Setting up your newborn’s room can be a real head scratcher. Here are a few tips to help you sort things out and start off on the right foot.
1. Go bold – think “color”
A kid’s universe is loaded with the imaginary, so the nursery is the ideal place to give free rein to your creativity. The more vibrant colors will add a dynamic touch to your decor, while pastel tones will be soothing for baby and create a more restful environment. If you prefer a more neutral hue for your walls, set it off with color in your crib quilt and/or accessories.
2. Use wall stickers
Decorate the walls with stickers, so the room looks even more magical. They’re easy to put on – a great way to enhance your decor instantly. You can also take them off easily, without damaging the paint. Stickers are a simple, low cost decorating accessory.
3. Hang things from the ceiling
Babies are often lying on their backs, looking at the ceiling. So why not add more fantasy to your decor with something like pennant garlands?
4. Use baskets for storage
Baskets are a great option for more accessible storage at a lower price! The nursery is the perfect room for going bold by adding touches of color. Choose good sized baskets to maximize your storage space.
5. Think “multi-functional”
You’ll have more than one trick up your sleeve when you opt for a single item with more than one function. Pick a chest with its own changing table, so you can maximize your space. You’ll have storage within easy reach. You can also buy a second chest to hold the rest of your baby’s accessories.
6. Think of yourself too!
An armchair is essential to your well-being. It’s something you buy for yourself: you’ll be spending a lot of time in it, rocking and showering your baby with love. Comfort is another aspect that shouldn’t be overlooked. Get a new mattress, so it’s a perfect fit for the cradle. Buying a quality mattress that’s in good condition is also important, since baby will be spending a lot of time there.
7. Add some pictures
Put up some pictures with fun, colorful images. They’re a simple, low cost, and low maintenance way to add a touch of fantasy.
